Crane School - 1928

Crane Country Day School was founded in 1928 to provide an enriched education to children in Pre-First through Eighth Grades. Since its founding, Crane has provided a thorough foundation in the five major subject areas of English, math, science, social studies, and foreign languages. The visual and performing arts, service learning, and athletics have also been an integral part of the school program. Within the past decade, Crane has expanded its programs to include a computer lab and an interactive video/multimedia lab for its students.

In addition to the curriculum, Crane provides a learning environment in which children may grow intellectually, realize personal creativity, develop self-confidence, and gain an appreciation for the diversity of the world around them. The school instills in students the values of compassion, kindness, honesty, cooperation, responsibility, leadership skills and an appreciation for individual differences.

The school cherishes diversity of all types (ethnicity, gender, culture, geographic and socioeconomic) and seeks families who are committed to and involved with their children's education.

Crane has a tradition of excellent teaching and seeks to attract and retain a talented faculty and staff who by inspiration and example serve as role models to accomplish the school's mission.

For over seventy-five years, Crane graduates have enrolled in some of the finest secondary schools and universities in the country.

Crane is accredited by the California Association of Independent Schools and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The school is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools, the Educational Records Bureau, the Secondary School Admission Test Board, the Association for Curriculum Development, and the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education.
