How “Songs for the Endowment” Was Born…
One day, Crane School's groundskeeper Joel Jamison was mowing the grass, and he thought: "I love this place. And I want more kids to be able to go to school here. And I want to DO something to help!"
He decided that day to ask his boss, the Headmaster at Crane, whether he could give a concert to raise money for scholarships. Mr. Weiss, touched by his employee's desire not only to maintain the children’s campus, but to provide for the children's scholarships, of course gave him the go-ahead. And so that day, "Songs for the Endowment" was born!
Come watch Joel J “sing like heck”! Hear the now-famous "Lawnmower Song"! The evening also promises all-new tunes Joel J has written especially for us. Don’t miss “Songs for the Endowment” coming up on March 6 at 8:00 p.m.!!
100% of all the proceeds raised in connection with this one-man show will go toward Crane’s Scholarship Endowment. Tickets, t-shirt sales, and the donations Joel J gathers the night of the event – all of these will directly benefit kids who couldn’t otherwise afford to attend Crane School.
The Scholarship Endowment Fund is like a savings account; the interest it generates is spent on the Tuition Assistance needs of worthy Crane students, while the savings remains untouched so that the fund can live on forever.
More about Joel J!
Joel Jamison loves his job, loves making music, and loves being around the 259 kids he sees every day on the Crane campus. Joel is a talented musician, a member of the rock band “King Bee”, and an avid baseball fan. He is father to two children, Emma and Dylan. For 15 years, he has worked in Crane's Maintenance Department, where, along with an assistant, he is responsible for the every-day maintenance and upkeep of the grounds : 11 acres of expansive green fields for frolicking; an assortment of trees good for climbing; and the fragrant and tidily-kept gardens where children can relax after a full day of active learning at Crane.
