Meet the Teacher : Robin Satnick

Biography

I am thrilled to be teaching at Crane School , especially because Crane’s philosophy of “hands-on learning” matches my own science teaching style.  The staff, students, and parents have all been so warm and welcoming.  It truly feels like I am part of a large family!

I earned my B.S. in environmental and systematic biology and M.S. in biology with a minor in education from California Polytechnic State University , San Luis Obispo .  I was fortunate to participate in an awesome project, where we converted a large moving-size van into a museum on wheels. The California Parks and Recreation utilized this “museum,” as well as the curriculum materials I developed, and toured State Parks and schools all over California .  This was the genesis of my love for developing curriculum and teaching.

I was born and raised in beautiful Santa Barbara and now live in nearby Ventura with my husband, David, and our three children.  In my free time I enjoy being outside gardening, going for a run or hike, reading, and hanging out with my family and friends.

My goal is to teach science in a fun, engaging, and educational way so that students will learn and love science.  I believe students learn best by doing.  As a seasoned naturalist, I look forward to the time we will spend outdoors, learning to appreciate how lucky we are to be at Crane!
