Biography
As a Crane parent, I beheld the merriment and wonder that my son experienced
each day at school, and thought that I’d like to become a Crane student myself.
Of course, this wasn’t a viable option for a woman of my years, so I entered
the school in a more age-appropriate way – I signed on as an employee. I’ve
been the Head of Upper School at Crane since July of 2004, and I’m having a
blast. Crane is indeed a joyful place.
It was as a young schoolgirl that I realized that I wanted to become a teacher.
Along with my five siblings, I attended Catholic schools in the Chicago area. Later, I
studied Comparative Literature and German as an undergraduate at Lake Forest College,
received my MAT in English at Brown
University, and earned my
doctorate in Educational Leadership at UCLA.
While I’ve worked at an all-boys school, an all-girls school, and a boarding
school before, this marks my first job at a K-8 school. It’s also the first
time that I’m teaching something other than English, and the first time that
I’m going to school with my children. Suffice it to say, I enjoy changes.
