6th Grade:
Developing speaking and writing of Spanish; new grammar concepts; aspects of Hispanic and Pre-Columbian cultures; nounadjective agreement; pronouns and definite and indefinite articles; “Ser” and “Estar”; present and preterite tenses; research and presentation of reports on Spanish-speaking countries and cultural elements; dialogues, games, debates, and discussions about literature, art, and music.
7th Grade:
Successful communication with others in Spanish; travel theme; communication and writing oriented around practical information and real life situations; irregular present tense verbs; the preterite tense; reflexive verbs; affirmative commands; direct and indirect object pronouns; in-depth focus on Pre-Columbian cultures; Spanish language acquisition through studies of literature, art, and music.
8th Grade:
Synthesis of existing knowledge of grammar and vocabulary through an in-depth focus on Hispanic and Pre-Columbian histories and cultures; conversations, dialogues, oral presentations, readings, and written reports; the imperfect and subjunctive tenses; negative commands; new vocabulary words discovered through literature, art, and music.
