AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS DIRECTOR:
For children in Kindergarten through 5th Grades. This is a contracted, part-time position, September through June. Responsibilities include: Oversight, organization, and management of the Discoveries Program (after-school electives such as art, music, and cooking) including budgeting, coordination of teachers, parent sign-ups, course schedules, and billing; hiring, management, and supervision of daycare staff; direct supervision of students playing outdoors; planning for and providing healthy snacks; and creation of rainy-day activities for children.
Education and Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of increasing responsibility working with children
- Early Childhood Education units
- Ideal candidate would possess a bachelor's degree and/or a teaching credential
Successful candidates will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Positive, optimistic attitude
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to develop creative ideas
- Basic technology skills (experience with Macintosh is helpful)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to successfully develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, students, and families
ART INTERN:
Applicants should have experience working with children and knowledge of art materials; those working toward a degree in art/education or art history are preferred. Hours are flexible, approximately 10 hours per week, according to class schedules. This is an excellent opportunity for experience under the guidance of an expert in the field; and for resume-building, networking, and for obtaining professional references. This is a full-year, unpaid internship, beginning on September 15, 2010, and ending on June 15, 2011.
FUNDRAISING INTERN:
Applicants need not have fundraising experience; students, those with experience in non-profit settings, or who enjoy work that benefits children, are encouraged to apply. Crane School alumni will be given selection preference. Hours are flexible, approximately 8-10 hours per week (one full day or two half-days). This is an excellent opportunity to learn to use Raiser's Edge software; for experience under the guidance of a mentor; resume-building; networking; and for obtaining professional references. This is a summertime, unpaid internship, beginning on June 15, 2010, and ending on August 27, 2010.

1) Medical, Dental, & Vision Insurance - Crane pays for the premiums of all its full-time employees.
2) Group Life & Disability Insurance - Crane pays for a life insurance policy for all its full-time employees, with a coverage amount equal to twice the employee's annual salary.
3) Retirement - After two years of employment, Crane will contribute 5% of the gross salary of all full-time employees to a tax-deferred annuity, and after five years of full-time employment, Crane contributes an additional 2% of gross salary (total 7%) if the employee matches at least 2%.
4) Flexible Spending Account - Crane offers its employees participation in the school's Flexible Spending Account (allowed under Section 125 of the Internal Revenue Code), which allows for an increase in expendable income through payment of the following on a before-tax basis: employee and dependent medical and dental care expenses (including deductibles and co-payments), and qualifying dependent care expenses.
5) Cafeteria Plan - Crane offers its full-time employees an additional Cafeteria Plan benefit, the amount of which varies (in 2008-09, the benefit was $1,000 per employee), which employees may choose to apply toward the tuition of their dependents enrolled at Crane, toward their retirement account, or toward health insurance premiums for their spouse or dependents.
6) Generous faculty enrichment programs - such as the Eldon Boyd Fellowship, eScrip Summer Enrichment Grants, the Lejeune Teaching Fellowship, Dorothy C. Waugh Summer Education Award, and our Sabbatical program, amount to over $120,000 a year in funding. These grants and fellowships are permanently funded to support the ongoing education and relaxation of our Crane teachers and staff.
